The Ercoupe was started following chats with Dave. His 1/48 scale collection is superb and has no equal that I know off. The Ercoupe is approx 85% complete and should be finished by the end of Jan 08 (unless I see some other tantalizing subject)

Nice work, Lou.  Is that a Dave-style carved canopy frame I see?

Negative on the carved canopy. I used masking tape to outline the frame. I do not have Dave's talent for that sort of intricate details.

I like it Lou. Nice wing fillet. My Ercoupe attempt was a disaster from the moment I cut out the blank. Something for the 2008 "to do" list.

Dave, the fillet is carved from the fuselage block. I can see where doing this in a smaller scale would be a problem. Even at 1/32, she is small craft.

The undercarriage has been painted and installed. The windscreen and canopy are half way done. I have not printed the decals yet but to get to it next week.

Due out in 2009? It's going to be a masterpiece! I saw a photo of an Ercoupe with an open cockpit (just the windscreen) and floats. Good looking plane.

I can't believe that's 1/32nd scale.

Dave, I guess I was getting ahead of myself. It should be done by Jan month's end 2008. Spell check did not pick up the error. In the immortal word of the Honourable Ralph Klein "You can't legislate against stupidity"
The best thing about these slow flyers is that you could fly with the "windows' open. I hate commercial flying, but if I ever get the chance to go up in an Ercoupe, I would be willing to get it a try.

Help - I cannot find the picture of the Aussie Ercoupe. It is all yellow with exception of the antiglare panel and the front engine area which is black. The serial number end in P8 (I think) I tried finding it again and could not. I shouldhave down loaded it when I first saw it.

The Ercoupe is complete. Problems with undercarriage due to poor research on my part. Early Ercoupes had the type shown in my model but subsequent versions had a single trailing arm vs two. Photography seems to be a major downfall these days with this sole picture turning out to my satisfaction. Additional photos will be added to the Gallery once I read the camera owner's manual.

The project was enjoyable.
