Pietenpol 1/72 scale In the USA, the Pietenpol has been a very popular homebuilt airplane. The first one was created in 1928 by Bernard Pietenpol, using a Model A Ford engine. Pietenpols are still being built today with all sorts of engines, including the Rotax. I built this model of one in 2009 to replicate one owned by a Minnesota aviation pioneer. It is Model A powered.
