Wellington Restoration

Thought you guys might be interested in this restoration of a WW2 solid model on the Unauthorised Airfix Modellers Forum.

I really like the plexiglass blocks the original builder used to simulate the fuselage-side cellon windows, bomb aimer's panel and gun turrets...

I recall reading somewhere -- one of Ernie Pyle's columns, I think -- that American soldiers in North Africa made see-through pistol grips for their .45s out of the windshields of shot-down German 'planes. Said they'd stick photos of their wives and girlfriends on the handles and mount the clear grips over them! I wonder if this model's another example of that kind of ingenuity...

He has done a really great job and not spoiled it by over restoration,a nice Wellington model is the result for the museum.
