Here is an easy and inexpensive way to make flexible foam sanding strips.

Materials:
Crafting foam sheet- has a high density closed cell, soft feel and is 2mm thick. It does not stretch.
Double sided tape - I used sookwang brand. Any thin film type of double side tape should work
Sandpaper of choice.

Cut the foam and sand paper to the desired width. Apply the tape and then the sand paper.

When used as a sanding strip it wraps nicely on convex curved surfaces. On concave shapes, it conforms to the curve and distributes the force from a single finger to get an even sanding result. It can be cut to finger tip sized pads for small areas. Cut narrow for details and  grooves. Its fold nicely and when straightened out again, does not crease the paper.
