Making scarf rings for WW1 biplanes can be tricky, here is a method that is simplified but looks effective,I aim for eyball effect and not super detail if it is not required.
To make the scarf ring obtain a pack of rivetting eyelets, the sort used to repair or re-inforce canvas covers, pick the one that is a suitable size, next warm up your soldering iron and solder a small nail to the ring the required angle to represent the gun ( you can re-file the muzzle to the cone shape ) once cool wrap a narrow piece of masking tape around the nail to shape up the magazine holder, next take a few washers and add them together as required to get the right thickness for the magazine, use cyno to fix into place, now fill the centre void with Milliput or similar, paint and admire your miniature creation of a WW1 gun and scarf ring, nobody except the thousands reading this will know that it was made from scrap bits and pieces !
