Thanks, Ken! If only I hadn't accidentally glued the wheel the axle, it might have had a chance in the race! Maybe I'll pull it out next year and see if I can get ready to roll. For now, it's on with the next model.

Model turned out wonderful! The paint colours and masking look great. I couldn't quite imagine how the plane would look as a pinewood derby model. But now that it's finished, I think you picked a the right plane to use for a pinewood entry. The fuselage is sufficiently chunky to approximate a vehicle. And the wheels add to the robustness.

Great job - ken

That looks great, Dave! I'm extremely impressed by how tight and clean your joints are.

More sanding and shaping. All of the main parts are glued together now.

Thanks, Dave. They actually built an experimental version (the XC-120) where the fuselage was essentially a shipping container:

Nice looking model. It looks like an actual concept for a troop carrier that converts from an aircraft to land vehicle.

I decided to forgo decals since this was simply a pinewood derby racer. It's hard to tell in the photos, but I did paint the crankcase as well as the prop hubs. Other than that, it looks about like it did in the other photos, but I went ahead and took some "finished" photos. This was an enjoyable build, especially the camouflage paint job.

Everything is in block shape for now. I just noticed I swapped the Port and Starboard engines.
