Title: Display Stands
Post by: vinairart on October 26, 2010, 01:19:48 PM
Hey All,

I am new to the forum but have been doing various bits of modeling over many years. As you can see by my topic, much like a gourmet meal, a nice model needs to be served up on something other than the "blue plate special". Do we have something in the Gallery that members may post favorite stands (not necessarily their own) for design inspiration?

Many Thanks, Tom

I really like the way you put the wood grain to good effect on the Thunderbolt and the stand.

Thanks Dave. That is my "Racy Art Deco" version of a Thunderbolt. I have another P-47 that been on and off over a few years that one day will get finished. I'm busy finishing other people's models for the moment.

Tom, what kind of wood did you use for the Thunderbolt?

Lou,

Oh boy- that was just a couple pcs of pine that I had caught my eye after a construction project. I just oriented my table saw to rough cut along the grain. The fuselage and base were from the same 2 X 4 and the wings and tail feathers from a another piece.
