Title: PB2Y Coronado in 1/72
Post by: Dave Tunison on June 20, 2026, 05:22:53 PM
I am using the I.D. plans for this behemoth, but they are not terribly accurate. Some adjustments and allowances will be made.

Looks like a great start! Will it be black like an ID plane or fully painted up?

I am pretty excited about this project. I would like to paint it in a Navy color scheme. There are several options.

I look forward to it! What drew you to this aircraft?

I am using redwood fence material. The colors vary, but it is all the same type.

Great job! I like the dados on the horizontal tail for the vertical fins. The wood makes for a nice contrast.

Progress slowed as I had a difficult time shaping the one piece wing. The grain was all over the place, it seemed to run in every direction. The use of sanding blocks finally solved the problem. Next the nacelles (or the tail planes)!

That grain is pretty wild! Coming along nicely, Dave.
