Title: Strombecker Aircraft
Post by: Dave Tunison on June 09, 2026, 03:21:21 PM
These are Strombecker models that I have owned at one time or another. I sanded, rebuilt and applied shellac to a few of them. Others have the original finish. It's not hard to tell.

Lou, they are from a number of years ago, not recent.

You have an outstanding collection of Strombecker models. I have one that Ray started, and I finished. I have one more Sabre in the box. Easy to tell by the plastic canopy.

Lou,
That beautiful F-86 shows what a little more effort can produce.

Nice collection, Dave! That one marked as a DC-4 looks like a Lockheed Constellation with the triple tail.

It does look like a less slim Constellation.

Oh cool. I've only seen a DC-4 with the standard vertical tail. Thanks for sharing the photo.

Some Strombecker kits were used a recognition models during the war, though I have never seen a Helldiver or Buccaneer in kit form.

More used as recognition models.

Thank you. Just a bit of "solid model memory". I found the two-tone camouflage interesting, even on the seaplanes.

The black and white images are from a stereoscopic film strip called "Keep em' Flying" made by Tru-Vue, a product similar to View-Master. There were three different strips related to Strombecker toy products.
