The project started with selecting the wood and printing the drawings. Cutting should begin next week after my bandsaw is set up.
Louis
What drawings are you using?
The drawing says M but the dimensions are the same as the Marauder II
Bandsaw is operational but yet to be used to cut out the Marauder.
Louis
Won't be long before it's finished.
Cheers
Gordon
At the rate Lou builds, he'll probably have his done before get one piece carved! ;)
Looking forward to building with you, Lou! And you, Gordon!
I can't dedicate as much time as I would like but some progress is better than none.
Louis
Not moving very fast. The bandsaw is up and running.
Louis
Moving along much slower than my fellow Marauder carvers.
Louis
Progress is still progress! Great to see yours moving ahead.
The arrow you put on the wing reminds me of the (several) times I carved the leading edge on the wrong end.
Everything is in block shape for now. I just noticed I swapped the Port and Starboard engines.
Louis
Not completely stalled but moving slow.

It's good to see your chisel at work again, Lou.
How's your marauder coming, Lou?
I is languishing on my bench. No progress.
Louis
Is it all glued together or still in separate pieces?
Still in separate pieces.
Louis
Have you decided on a paint scheme and/or markings for your Marauder, Lou?
Mine will be RAF desert scheme of sand and mildstone
Louis
Very striking! That's not a scheme I'm used to seeing on a Marauder. I like it! Someday I'll build a plane in desert camouflage.
Small progress. Tail feathers carved and sanded.
Louis
Fantastic! I'm glad to see your Marauder back on the bench! Is that a second wing I see there, too?
I ran the wing plug through my bandsaw to cut it down. The remainder will eventually be part of another project.
Louis
I see. I do the same thing. Is your notch in the fuselage going to be the full width of the wing? If so, how do you determine when to do that vs. a smaller notch?
I remember you doing a full notch on your B-25 build as well. I'm just curious if there are any particular qualities about the shape of the plane involved that guide that decision.
Only very small wings are cut out full chord. I usually notch my wings.
Louis
Small steps,
Louis
Nice
Small steps are how it goes! Looking good!
Thank you both.
Louis
I returned to the Marauder this afternoon.
Excellent! I'm glad to see it moving along again. I look forward to the desert scheme you picked.
I do a bit now and then. I am currently working on the nacelles.
Louis
I kind of cheated and didn't put any intakes on my B-26 nacelles. The ID plan called for the B-26A type of shallow ones that were barely visible. Even those were troublesome.
Assembled
Louis
It's great to see it come together. I look forward to your unique paint scheme on this one.
First primer coat.
Louis
Great to see it moving along!
This one has been a challenge with many setbacks requiring scraping and redoing some parts.
louis
I'm glad you stuck with it. This was a great introduction to the group build idea for me. I'm glad yours is on its way to the finish line.
Duck Egg Blue applied by brush.
Louis
Getting close! Do you find that you have to do multiple layers of those lighter colors?
Will you be printing or purchasing decals for this one?
I will be printing the decals.
Louis
I will redo the earth colour as I am not impressed with the results.
Louis
Getting close to that finish line! I'm sure it will be great when you get it to your liking.
I noticed on your photo of the bottom of the plane you had a cup with drinkng straws in it. What do you use those for?
At one point, I used them as the base for 1/32 engine cylinders.
Louis
Dark earth sorted out.
Louis
Thanks for answering my question. The paint job looks great!
Decals are printed. Markings are basic, with just a D identifier and national markings.
Louis
Looks good!
I assume the black squares are for the side windows? I chose to leave those off for the sake of simplicity.
You are correct.
Louis
Ready for the gloss coat.
Louis
That looks great! I love the desert scheme! I'm not used to seeing a Marauder like that. Nice work, Lou.
Thank you Jordan I sprayed the gloss coat and will place the decals in a few days, and them, followed by a matt coat.
Louis
Let's call it done.

Great Marauder, Lou!
It's amazing how even a few simple decals really give that finishing touch. I'm glad to see it cross the finish line!
Thank you Jordan. it was a struggle for me.
Louis.
I'm glad you got it done. I enjoyed participating in the group build with you and Dave.
