The model is 1/72 scale and based on a Beech King Air variant.
Lou
Looks interesting.
Gordon
Thank you Gordon. I just found out about this aircraft being in the inventory.
Newly carved wing and basic contour of the fuselage
Good going, Lou. What kind of wood are the tail pieces made of?
Cedar, but I will re-do with pine later.
Louis
A few minutes this morning. Still need lots of TLC.
Louis
Great progress. I like the nacelle being done in multiple pieces. I might have to try that on a future build.
1/2 hour at the bench.
Louis
Will the wings be notched to attach them?
Always!
Louis
Progress report. The tail unit is glued together and pinned to the fuselage. Wing is notched, but not glued yet.
Louis
That's coming along nicely!
Thank you Jordan. It is a low priority build.
Louis
What else have you got going on your bench?
Nthing else. The Marauder is sidelined indefinitely.
Louis
I'm sorry to hear about the Marauder. I was looking forward to seeing your finished model. Keep up the good work on the Vigilante!
Subassemblies get a coat of primer. I normally wait until all is glued; however, it is easier to sand the inner nacelles and winglets if done this way.
That's a good point about the nacelles. I might need to consider that on future builds.
Is that filler primer?
Dupli-Color primer filler.
Louis
Major modification to the engine nacelles.
Louis
Giving the engines an upgrade, are you?
Have to. The later versions have a compartment in the rear of the nacelle. I was using drawings from an earlier version, and not specifically for the CE-145C.
Louis
Do you glue it over the primer? If so, what glue do you use?
Or do you sand the primer back to the bare wood and use regular wood glue?
I used superglue and cleaned up the area first
Louis
Small progress. Compare tp previous photos.
Louis
Great job on the modification. It will be done before you know it!
Thank you Jordan. It has a low priority these days.
Louis
Upper fuselage radome and wing assembly glued to fuselage.
Louis
Coming along nicely! Have the spinners already been cut off, or will they be?
It will have spinners.
louis
Moving along.
Louis
Cool project Lou.
Thank you Dave.
Louis
A little more progress.
Louis
Not the usual "Vigilante" :)
Looking good, Lou!
Is it all glued together?
Dave - I always associated the Vigilante with the A-5
Jordan - Thank you, and yes, it is glued. Next, many antennae and various other probes.
Louis
I built the Monogram A-5 back in the 1970s. It was supposedly in 1/79th scale.
I built the Airfix 1/72 back in the day.
Louis
A bit more done. Cockpit and fuselage windows are printed and will be placed on the Vigilante tomorrow. The model is currently receiving a gloss coat to accept the decals.
Louis
That sure is a lot of "fiddly bits!" Especially that big brown antenna on the bottom! ;)
Looking good, Lou!
That big one is the most powerfull in the world. :)
Louis
Took a bit of time, but it is finally done. Decals are Above and Below.
Louis
Great job, Lou! That's a very sharp-looking build! Well done!
Thank you Jordan
Louis
Excellent Lou!! Another model to be proud of, especially around Canada Day.
Great work as usual, Lou.
A wild looking plane of a type I have not seen before. Why did I think it said "Vigilante"?
Because I incorrectly labelled it as such. You are not losing it.
Louis
Haha! I didn't know that wasn't the name of it. It's not a plane I'm familiar with, so I didn't know any different.
