Here's the same assembly after the cowl face was attached for final fittment. The cowl inner panels were painted interior green on most Hellcats, though toward the end of their service careers in the US Navy and Navy Reserve squadrons other colors, such as zinc chromate may have been substituted. The last survivors were retired by the mid-to-late fifties.
