1933 Hawker Hart Fighter
from James Hay Stevens’ 1933 Book “Scale Model Aircraft”. Stevens was the designer for the “Skybirds” range of kits. I thought Stevens had captioned his painting incorrectly but K1950 – K1955 were Hart Fighters, with the rortier engine(?) and inclined rear scarf ring of the Demon but without the starboard forward Vickers. They were proof of concept types for the Demon and issued to No.23 squadron hence the chequered markings. Despite being two-seaters, they were glamorous and solved the problem that the Hart bombers were faster than the RAF’s other fighters!
