Piper Comanche
|
3/8" = 1' scale (1/32 size) Piper Comanche. Basswood fuselage, pine wings.
Mask for painting fuselage trim made by applying masking tape to wax paper, then printing a side view of
real airplane on that; the trim design was then cut from the masking tape and applied to the white painted model.
Next the blue paint was applied and the masks removed to reveal the white underneath.
Spinner was made by first inserting bamboo skewer peg into a hole drilled in a cylinder shaped basswood blank.
Bamboo dowel then chucked in dremel tool and blank spun against rotating sanding disk- a crude but effective lathe.
