Title: Photo reference
Post by: Mothman on September 17, 2011, 10:23:57 AM
I've just received some old SAM mags and a paperback reference profile of the Dragon Rapide, wherein the majority of photos are in black and white.  What a wonderful difference from the blurred, badly lit offerings in pointless colour that came on a "professional" CD.  B&W gives that contrast which makes a photo into something akin to a 3D rendering of any subject.
I don't know about you guys, but I mourn the passing of hobby magazines in b&w.  I remember the old Road and Track, Sports Car Graphics, Motor Sport, Model Railway News, Model Maker, Aeromodeller and Aeroplane Monthlies, to name but a few which gave me such a warm cosy feeling of being right "into" my hobby in days past.
Suddenly, all is garish colour and just too fancy.  It also was their excuse for pushing the price up.
And as for those ghastly crowded car-crash adverts in amateurish colour either end of the current mags...no thankyou.
