You get to see the whole thing for a change.  No hints for two weeks.  I want make and model.

Okay, two weeks have gone by and not a single guess!  So maybe a hint is needed.

Hint #1:  The photo was taken at Chanute Field.   When you find which state Chanute is in, you know the state where the airplane was built.

Mark,

Is it an early WACO, say a 10 with a Hispano-Suiza (or Wright copy)?

Will

Mark Braunlich

Not a WACO, not a Hispano-Suiza engine.

Will

Is it a Curtiss OX-5 engine?
Will
Without a clue in rainy England

Mark Braunlich

Yes, it has a Curtiss OX-5 engine.  That narrows it down to just about every civil American airplane made in the early 1920s.

Will

Yes I thought it wouldn't narrow the choice much!
I wanted someone to make an effort though.
Regards
Will

Will

Mark, it's now April in the olde worlds so what was the answer to the ox-5 mystery plane?

Will

Mark Braunlich

Aw c'mon Will, you givin' up already?

It's a good one Mark and haven't quite given up yet.

Still have not got  the foggiest idea . Looked and looked but alas and alack it's got me tossed.
I'll have a stab in the dark and go with a Travelair 2000.

   cheers

Boomer,
Sorry, not a Travelair.   It was built in Chicago, Illinois.

Here's another small view of the same make and type.  I've blocked out the maker's logo on the vertical tail so as to not give the answer.  Colors are probably black and gold....that's a BIG hint.
