Please do the gun salute. The drawings are not all that clear on what the guns should look like.

The dollar store sell various packs of paint brushes for a buck. These brush are totally useless for painting, but the handles are tapered making them perfect for a ship's mast. The light just came on when I was looking for a dowel to make the mast on the Wickes Class Destroyer.

Bits and pieces are coming together. The contractors delivered the guns and torpedo tubes last night and they will be glued later this weekend.

I love group builds. Too bad more people don't join in for the fun.

The Wickes Class Destroyer ID Model was launched yesterday with all the fanfare it deserved. It was a relatively simple follow the plan model.

I prefer to build with someone else, in this case I must thank Garet and family for the inspiration to construct one.

Nice work, Lou!

We test-fit the bridge assembly yesterday on our first ship and found it needs some adjustment.  We've been having discussions about whether or not to carve master ship's boats and then cast replicas, or just carve each one individually.  Making parts for five ships sure change the decisions some times!  I may carve enough for the first ship, and use those as masters.

The same applies to aircraft fleets or other models having multiple parts. The end work is worth it. Carve on.

Great work Lou,

I've gotta admit that I know very little about destroyers etc, and I've had a bit of trouble envisioning what is going on in the bridge/behind-that-big-steel-bulkhead area at the front.  Is it solid or are there just three (front and 2 sides) big walls with a roof and an open back?  On your three picture frame, the shadowy bit on the top left photo might show me the answer.

Great build

Thanks,

Kenny

Thanks Ray,

All those photos are a lifesaver.  I guess that's what I get for coming in half way through a converation  :-[

Thanks again... this group is so much fun!

I found some four-stacker information (of sorts) this week.  It is a plastic model kit of the USS Ward in 1/240 scale.  I haven't opened it yet to take a look, but will post some photos soon.

Has your Wickes Class Destroyer been launched? I must have missed the ceremony.

Garet forgot to post a photo of his four stacker. Better late than never.
