Commonly referred to as the Snowbird, the Tutor is a trainer designed and built in Montreal by Canadair Ltd. The current project is in 1/32 scale. Details on the initial steps to make a Tutor are forthconing.

I have fixed the incorrect front end configuration and have started coating with grey primer. She is rather small 1/32 ship, but will do nicely as an early version of the Red Knight(perhaps). Building to a later configuration is quite minor requiring the addition of nose strakes.

Majority of sanding completed early in Feb. Minor fix up here and there before final sanding and sending to the paint shop. Will complete as 1968 season Red Knight solo aerobatic demonstrator.
Feb 08 time expenditure - 6 hours
The Tutor survived the paint shop quite well. This is the last of my red enamel spray paint. Acrylics from now on. I place on painting the canopy glass a medium grey but I have not decided on what to do for the decals. It will run me around $40.00 CDN to purchase the 1/32 scale Red Knight decals. How ever, they will be a heck of a lot more accurate than if I attempt them. I will let the paint cure for a few weeks before moving on.

The Tutor is looking good, Lou!
Garet
More work has been made to the Tutor. Resanding was in order and red dust is everywhere. More photos when I repaint her.
Your Tutor is really something Lou. The finish is remarkable. But perhaps you could elaborate on your decision to switch from enamel to acrylic.
Cliff
Cliff, my concerns are environmental and health issues. I find that enamels work better, but have a greater risk to mother earth and my health.
As a companion to the Tutor Red Knight I will re do an existing 1/32 T-Bird to the red Knight scheme.

The Tutor is back in the paint shop to have its cheat line added. I figured it would be easier to just paint the whole side of the aircraft white and them mask that and re-spray the red. Pictures to follow later once the white line is painted.
Busy Bee Lou
Cheat line has been painted and now awaits a clear coat before decals. These have to be printed locally as I cannot afford the high price of commercial decals.

The Tutor has been covered with a thin coat of future wax using a sponge. Overall, I am pleased with the final results.

Wow, Lou, amazing work. The Future clearcoat looks wonderful.
Garet
I elected to place a second set of decals over the first and it all but took out the bleeding of the underlying colours. Now for a final coat of future and wait for the spring showing at the local mall. More picture after I finish the final coat.
Lou
PS. Acsender Mk III had its rocket engine test fitted today.
I had to put a second set of decals on my 1/144 Spitfire as well. The green and brown camouflage showed through the single set.
Garet
A superb model again, Lou. Fine finish. Unfortunately our joy in replication must be tempered by the thought that almost at the moment you were completing your model we lost another Tutor and crew on Thursday at Moosejaw. Our sympathy is extended to the families.
While I'm always amazed at the models you present, your hangar and decals also are astounding. You've probably given an account of their construction but, especially with regard to the decals, I for one would certainly benefit from your posting of a tutorial on just how you do make your decals.
Cliff.
Thank you Cliff. Yes I heard about the unfortunate Tutor crash and the lost of its pilot. I will consider making a tutorial on decals in the tip section as soon as i can muster my thoughs on the subject.
