Like the original, the prototype receives a bubble canopy to convert it to a Mk Ia.

OOPS! I had to sand down the first bubble canopy as it was placed on the prototype instead of the Mk II. I have rectified that as well as the forward fuselage. The Mk Ia has a different forward fuselage profile I did not take into consideration when I carved the two blanks. Glad to say wood is forgiving in it is easy replace an error.

My Mk Ia Spitfire rolled out this afternoon. I liked doing Spitfires. I currently have one 1/72, three 1/48 and one 1/32.

Note the change from Mk II to Mk Ia as the decals reflect a 19 Sqn aircraft.
19 Squadron became the first squadron in the RAF to operate the Supermarine Spitfire Mk I.
