This topic will cover the construction of a Spitfire Mk Ia.
Lou
Will be watching progress.
Gordon
Do I sense a twofer theme lately?😃
Fraser
As long as I am cutting blanks, why not?
Lou
Coming along nicely Lou, regards Paul J.
Thank you Paul.

Like the original, the prototype receives a bubble canopy to convert it to a Mk Ia.
Lou
OOPS! I had to sand down the first bubble canopy as it was placed on the prototype instead of the Mk II. I have rectified that as well as the forward fuselage. The Mk Ia has a different forward fuselage profile I did not take into consideration when I carved the two blanks. Glad to say wood is forgiving in it is easy replace an error.
Lou
Fuselage reshaped, wings carved and sanded and the wings glued to fuselage.
Lou
Fuselage primed and tail feathers glued awaiting to putty.

Thank you Gordon. I plan on doing the A wing with the eight machine guns.
Lou
Decals printed.

My Mk Ia Spitfire rolled out this afternoon. I liked doing Spitfires. I currently have one 1/72, three 1/48 and one 1/32.
Lou
Nice. Did you use the ID plans or something else?
I downloaded from The-Blueprint.com My favorite site for drawings.
Lou
Note the change from Mk II to Mk Ia as the decals reflect a 19 Sqn aircraft.
19 Squadron became the first squadron in the RAF to operate the Supermarine Spitfire Mk I.
Lou
Nicely Done Lou.
Gordon
Thank you Gordon.
