Wow that is very unique and impressive! Does Pete use plastic wood on the joints of his models? If he does its not noticeable in the photos.

Here is Pete's answer:

No, I use water soluble wood putty only, preferably a light colour as it takes the stain well. It dries quickly, and sands well.

I hold wings etc by using "gorilla glue" with the blue label....the orange label glue expands and is OK if you're going to clamp it. I also insert a finishing nail into the wing/tail etc to give it stability until the glue dries.

Hope this helps....I found out  that the "swamp cedar" holds it's colour better if you use spray varnish (four or five coats) rather than the water based varnish I use for butternut........Pete
