Title: Bristol Scout C
Post by: Jim on June 15, 2022, 08:13:21 PM
Bristol Scout C No. 1611, as flown by Capt. Lanoe Hawker, 6 Squadron RFC, on July 25, 1915, when he was credited with bringing down three German two-seaters in a single sortie, a feat which earned him the Victoria Cross. Hawker's Bristol Scout was armed with a single unsynchronized Lewis gun, mounted obliquely at 30 degrees to the line of flight on a mount of his own design.

Standard basswood construction. Mahogany prop, bamboo struts, O ring tires, carved pilot figure from a poplar dowel, home-made decals and rub-on tail numerals, fishing line and banjo string rigging. 1/60 scale approx.

Fantastic Biplane Jim. I love submission. You are still master of the WWI era.

Jim, that is a very fine model you have made. Love how the machine gun is offset to miss the propeller arc. It must have been a real challenge to aim!!
Great work.
