A bit of carving this morning. I will open up the fuselage to install instruments, controls and seats. I am debating under camber for the wings. I don't usually do this and leave the bottom wing flat.

Back in the day I was going to make an RC model of the Gypsy and I've always liked this scheme.

Nice photo. Mine will be in RCAF yellow as per most of my biplanes.

Ribbing is taking longer than anticipated. I snapped broke the dihedral break joint on the top wing and had to resort to making two small spars to span the area. I also took additional caution in making spars for the bottom wing as well.

Sub assembly is in the paint shop for some white primer prior to applying the trainer yellow.

Back to the paint shop after adding fuselage ribbing. Will require at least two more yellow coats before assembly of the upper wing.

Looks great Lou. Nice wing detailing. By now, you must have cornered the local market on yellow paint!

Thank you Gordon. My control sticks are round toothpicks with the stick portion sanded to a smaller diameter.

Details, details, details. Instrument panel should be vertical, however I am taking poetic license.

Moving along

Thank you Gordon. I have been calling it wrong all along. I was advised that DH spell it with an i - Gipsy.

Gigging of the wings is complete and the remainder will be done after decals are affixed. My exhaust has some twists and turns but finally got it close to what is should be. May be done by month's end.

Undercarriage, cabane struts. horizontal wing supports, exhaust and wheels await touch ups before assembly.

Main undercarriage attached as well as the cabane struts followed by the exhaust. It was tricky to insert the exhausts around and behind the cabane structs.

I had to reprint some decals for the bottom of the wing. Tail skid attached. Spring is copper wire wrapped around another piece of copper.
Propeller ready for installation.

A very nice model of the Gipsy Moth!! Outstanding workmanship with detail in the rigging, cockpits and over all authentic look of the real aircraft. The hanger diorama shots make the aircraft come alive. Quite the exhaust system, that's for sure..Also It is nice that you included the builder picture (you of course) too. That really gives the model a human touch. Great job Lou. I always enjoy your resulting models.

Fraser
