I'm revisiting those models which I've started and have been sidetracked by other things which precluded rapid finishing.
Managed to get some time recently on the Flycatcher.
Have had the undercarriage made for some time ( sitting in a jig after soldering).
Removed from the jig and dry fitted to rest of model. Wasn't satisfied with the wheels that I had made previously
so a new set was made.
Picture to follow.
Gordon
The undercarriage in the jig.
Dry fit of undercarriage and lower wing.
Your engines are so realistic. Nice work Gordon.
Lou
I've made two of these. The other is in storage waiting for a Siskin to be built around it.
Gordon
Very nice!

Some progress on the Flycatcher in between other things.
Wing ribs have been simulated with trimmed to size "sticky paper labels" followed by 4-5 coats of primer.
Propeller has been given a coat of Burnt sienna. Cabane struts have been cut . Outer wing struts are in the process of being made.
Have to clean up the cockpit a bit.
Plastic wheel covers done.
Cheers
Gordon
That looks amazing Gordon, engine and rib work is excellent. Regards Paul J.
Outstanding progress.
Lou
Long while to get to this stage.
Gordon
I've done a little bit on the Flycatcher. Trying to do it in parallel with the Caproni.
I've cleaned up the cockpit a bit. Not going overboard. I'll fill it up with a pilot bust I think.
I have cut out a windscreen and made up and Aldis sight from a bit of brass rod and paper. Mounting from flattened copper wire.
The lower wing fitting has been adjusted and the undercarriage now fits better after some work.
I've added the inspection covers on the top wing from paper circles cut with a sharpened brass tube.
Wing struts nearly done.
Have to decide how to paint her up and make the necessary decals.
Cheers
Gordon
Awesome finish. Silver is not user friendly in my experience but seem to have nailed it. Awaiting more.
Lou
Thank you Lou.

Some plodding progress.
Have nearly done the fiddly bits on the fuselage.
Brass tube for air intakes. Glue stiffened paper for hatch on port side and control wire exits at rear of fuselage.
Some left over stitching decals used. headrest from balsa.
Not in the pictures but I'm having a go at making some Vickers MkII machine guns.
Perforated some aluminium ( takeaway food tray ). Rolled around a pin the slipped over a piece of small diameter brass tube.
Receiver from scrap basswood. Lever from take way coffee cup top. Pictures to follow.
Very realistic finish on your fuselage.
Lou
Very nice Gordon, looking forward to the gun pictures. Regards Paul J.
Some progress.
Decals done. Wing struts have been done and have been pinned ready for fitting.
The guns are a work in progress.
The only thing glued at the moment is the lower wing. Everything else is clipped on or attached with Blu tack.
I've ordered some turnbuckles so will wait and see on them.
The unpainted barrel for one gun is one that I used some earthing( grounding ) strap on.
The drawings show the guns angled toward the fuselage. Need to check this and the mounting.
Cheers Gordon
And a couple more
It's coming along nicely!! Excellent work on the ribbing. The decals look great.
-ken
Looking great Gordon. Regards paul J.
I concur.
Lou
Thank you everyone. Everything is just rolling along with it.
The fuselage stripe is masked and painted. Cleaning up done slowly with a fine brush.
There is a fuselage number decal to be applied yet.
Cheers
Gordon
I've lumped the Flycatcher and CH 1 together in this shot.
The lower wing on the CH1 has now been glued .The wing struts are in position but not glued. I've since started the lower wing fillet.
I still have to make up the rigging attachments and am still thinking about the oil coller.
The Flycatcher since this picture has had the cabane struts glued in place. The wing struts have been painted and the number decal has been applied to the fuselage band
So I'll do the rigging on the cabane struts , add the windscreen and Aldis sight before adding the top wing. Still waiting for the turnbuckles to arrive.
Looking at the tracking them it would appear that rather than going Melbourne - Canberra its somehow says its in Darwin ( thats the top end).
Cheers
Gordon
Outstanding Gordon.
Lou
Impressive work Gordon. Regards Paul J.
Thank you Lou and Paul,
I've attached the cabane struts and done the rigging using EZY line.
Windscreen and aldis sight have been attached .
Picture to follow . away for a few days

Gordon
Couldn't be better ;)
Great job!
Thank you all.
Pushing on slowly.

Gordon
Upper wing and tailplane attached.
Store bought turnbuckles installed rigging to commence next time.
Cockpit does look a bit spartan so I'll think about how to fill it up.
Engine needs some small details added.
Guns and mountings need to be finished.
Just looked at the date I started this .... 7 years
Anyway nearly done.
Cheers
Gordon
I'll try again
one
two and three
Nicely done! May have to try a ragwing to experiment with the rib stitching.
Fraser
Very nice indeed Gordon, detailing work outstanding. Regards Paul J.
Beautiful workmanship.
Lou
Thank you all .
A bit of an update . The tailplane struts have been added.tailp[lane control links added. All the turnbuckles have been attached.
I've cleaned the engine up a bit and some "wobbly bits" that go on the front below the propeller.
So that just leaves the Fin/Rudder. The Rigging and the guns and install the engine.
Cheers
Gordon
Thanks for the update Gordon. We have so few comments during the summer months.
Lou
Some progress.
Guns are done and attached. Rigging commenced. I am leaving the Aileron cables and horns till I've done the rigging.
Cheers
Gordon
Nice detail with the fabric inspection covers.
Fraser
Wonderful details when viewed up close.
Lou
The rigging is a bit frustrating so I'm doing it when the mood takes me.
Shouldn't be too much longer though.
Cheers
Gordon
I've completed the wing rigging. Moving on with the aileron control wires. Then the last bits of rigging on the undercarriage.
Looking at the cockpit I might have to knock up an instrument panel.
Cheers
Gordon
That's the rigging finished. Bit of quality control on the painting. Stick the engine, propeller and fin/rudder on and that will be it.
I might try and shoehorn an instrument panel in later.
Cheers
Gordon
Hi Gordon
A model to be very proud of!! The detailing (wing ribs, undercarriage, engine, etc.) all look outstanding.
-ken
Excellent Gordon. The engine is a gem in itself.
Lou
That is a really nice model to look at. Well done.
fraser
Thank you Ken, Lou and Fraser.
Well I've run out of bits to stick on and have managed to shoehorn an instrument panel into the cockpit.
So I'll call the Flycatcher finished.
That only leaves the Caproni CH-1 to finish off out of the trio I started ages ago.
Cheers
Gordon
Outstanding model Gordon.
Lou
Thank you Lou.
I've started looking at the Armstrong Whitworth Siskin . I made two engines back when I started the Flycatcher.
I'll finish the Blenheim first though.
Cheers
Gordon
