Title: 1/72 Canadair Sabre Mk 6 Start June 2020 - Completed 1 Aug 2020
Post by: lastvautour on June 12, 2020, 06:28:21 PM
Although I have six 1/72, one 1/48 and a 1/32 Sabre, another is was in order. They are simple and can be put together rather quicky. I have yet to select the colour scheme. There are so many to choose from. I will make decals for the common markings and either make of select from my collection of decals for the nationality.

One can imagine the designers carving up a prototype of the Saber and saying he same thing.  "Simple and can be put together rather quickly". If it looks right, it usually flies right too.

Photo taken for Ray. A lot of models will be worked on my new deck. Here I sanded the main wing airfoil shape and did some minor sanding on the fuselage. The tail feathers and canopy are done and siting on my workbench.

On reading up on the CAC Sabre it mentioned the the Avon engine was wider and that the intake was enlarged by 60% but I could not find drawings specific to the type. I wanted to do a Red Diamond version. Do you have drawings specific to the CAC CA-27 Mk 32?

Lou
I have been looking for drawings and info for years.

I have the Warpaint book.

I've surfed the net and found the following using CAC 27 Sabre.

https://www.the-blueprints.com/blueprints/modernplanes/modern-c/84966/view/cac_avon_ca-27_sabre/

http://www.adf-serials.com.au/2a94intro.htm

This has a 1/32 plastic kit bash which highlights a few areas.

  Mmmm I'm tempted

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Thank you Gordon. I downloaded the drawings. My version will not do as the thickness of the fuselage comes up short. Another day!

Paul, a comparison of the Blueprint.com drawings revealed that it is just an F-86E with the cannon armament. The F86H may be a closer fit. I will continue to investigate.

Primer applied followed by fixing the broken vertical fin. ARRRG. The primer/filler did a great job of sealing the grain. Once sanded and primed, the paint scheme will be selected.

I selected the Canadair Sabre to be the first to received decals. Upon attempting to slide the decals on to the model it destroyed itself. Fortunately I had scanned the decal sheet and used that image to reproduce what I needed. The Canadair Sabre is now taking a back seat to the Avon Sabre.
