The result of a coup[le of hours work yesterday after noon in the sun.
3 Squadron used the Southern Cross on the rudder. Still used today.
Decals done
I haven't forgotten the Wirraway.
Cheers
Gordon.
The drawings I'm using are the same I used as a kid to make a solid p-51 . With "borrowed " balsa from my older brother. 1/72 with retracts.
Looking good even at this early stage.
Lou
Thank you Lou.
need to clean up the fuselage a bit
Gordon
Everything glued. Working on the fillets. The pin holes are for the exhaust location. Have an idea for the exhausts will see how that turns out.
I might do it with U/c down.

Gordon
Great Mustang.
Lou
Had a bit of a small battle with the fuselage . I am satisfied with it now.

Gordon
Nicely shaped right from the start.HOw did you the mark flight control surfaces?
Fraser
Fraser,
I used in this case a steel ruler and a HB propelling pencil.
Exhausts are done . Piece of 1/32 basswood with lengths of .5mm copper wire glued in . Picture to follow.
Cheers
Gordon
The ones on the Basswood are for the Mustang. The yellow and black ones are for the CA-15.

Looking good Gordon, nice idea with the wire exhausts, regards Paul J.
I must try the wire insulation exhaust pipes. They look quite realistic.
Lou
Started the cleaning up and applying paint.

Where the Mustang is at.
Made up some drop tanks from balsa dowel. The seam is done with thin wire super glued in place . A couple of coats of primer then silver.
I've done the filler cap out of three layers of paper impregnated with PVA and cut out with a sharpened brass tube. I have painted then red. Can always change it.
Decals printed .
Just leaves four propeller blades and the radio mast.
Yet to attach the exhausts.
Cheers
Gordon
You have done well with your Mustang.
Lou
Thank You Lou.
Little bit more to do.
Cheers
Gordon
Applying decals and touching up the white areas.
Had to resize rudder and serial decal . Waiting for the clear to dry.
The squadron codes are white. Have reverse printed them so I'll see how they go.
I am going to leave off the propeller blades and radio mast as I am going to give it to my Grandson to add to his collection.
It will be interesting to see how long it lasts.
Cheers
Gordon
I hope your grandson appreciates the fantastic workmanship that went into your Mustang.

Thank You Lou and Paul.

I envy your grandson. Excellent Mustang.
Lou
Thank you Fraser and Lou.
See how he goes with it.
The colour scheme is the same as a peddle plane Mustang my son and I built for him a few years ago.
