Title: 1/64 Northrop P-61 "Black Widow"
Post by: Mark Braunlich on September 21, 2013, 05:27:05 PM
Over the years, I've managed to collect several vintage solids made in the 1930 - 1950s decades.  I especially like to add 1/72 WW2 solids made during or soon after the war.   A favorite of the kit companies in the 1944-1950 years was the Northrop P-61 and this one is quite nicely done though it's showing cracks and some damage.  It's made of balsa.  The stand is classic vintage coat hanger wire.   The decal on both sides of the nose is a spider in a web with the name BLACK DEATH.  If anyone knows which kit company made the kit with those decals, I would be happy to know about it.  It definitely is not a Strombecker model.

This has been identified as being built from a Comet, 1/64 scale kit.

Great find. I have yet to find any solid model at any local yard sales or flea market.
