Just to show that solid models need not be complicated and still be of historical interest, here is something that I knocked up from a piece of dowel and some scrap material that I picked up in the street, its the Miles Supersonic which was the first supersonic aircraft designed after WW2,it was only shown in mock up form as the world was just not quite ready for supersonic flight in 1949,compare this with Wallis Rigbys 'Dan Dare' artwork for the 'Eagle' boys comic and you will see a definate influence of this design.

Nice way to introduce that biplane you are working on. Neat little craft.

Very nice, Barry.  It's good to have a quick project available.  I have a few small submarine models I've whipped up in a few hours from some bits of wood and music wire.

Yes Garet the offcuts can be turned into fun little subjects, why waste good materials ?
