We held two Remembrance Day parades. The first was the usual 11 o'clock ceremony and the other was the dedication of the Shoal Harbour cenotaph. When originally erected in the early 1920s, it was a fair distance away from the street. New construction and widening of the street shortened that distance and in recent years snow clearing and salt have damaged the base. A four-year project to relocate the monument was realized this year and commemorated with a parade.

Sergeant Major(ret'd) Dale Benson headed up the project and funding was secured through private donations, the Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund, the town of Clarenville, and many local businesses.

The memorial  looks striking with the silhouettes surrounding the monument.  I like the small details of the poppies and doves on the posts.

I do remember and thank you Lou.
