New project on the bench are two small Bell helicopter in 1/144 scale. Just something to take those few slack moments waiting for paint or glue to dry on other models.

Lou,
Looking forward to progress on these two.
Cheers
Gordon
Will be fun to make the rotor blades at 1:144 I'm sure🙂

I hit a snag with my Hueys. All drawings show the CH-118 Iroquois having a shorter tail boom than the CH-135 despite there only being 5/8 inch difference in the total length. Back to the drawing board as I await confirmation of the drawings I have.
Drawings sorted out. Rough carving and sanding in progress. Rotor partially assembled with stabilizer bar attached. I used white glue drops for the counter weights at the tips. The rotor is two blades and a center piece. Swash plates are glued to the straight pin masts. Rotor details will be low but suitable for my 1/144 needs.
Lou
Coming along nicely Lou.
Gordon
Thank you Gordon.

Skids are copper wire and attached with superglue. Rotor are done except for a bit of clean up and paint.
Lou
Looking forward to the finished models.
Gordon
Getting there.
Lou
They look great. You gauge the size of the model by the peg in the background.
Terrific work on the rotors.
Gordon
Thank you Gordon. The grid lines are 1cm squares.
Lou
Paint booth time.

United Nations white Twin Huey is in the paint shop. The yellow Search and Rescue Iroquois will follow tomorrow.
Lou
Two very nice small models. Looking forward to the finished models.

Gordon
Thank you Gordon.
Both are in the paint shop. Completion can now be measured in days. I await the delivery of some aftermarket decals.
Lou
Forward fuselages required major surgery on both models. They are carved, sanded, primed and repainted. I found just how far out I was when I attempted to paint the windscreen.

Roll out 5 Apr 2022. A typical short 3 weeks 1/144 project with few problems. Some parts took a bit of imagination to make them look good in that scale.
Lou
Last photo shows the CH-135 in with the United Nation collection.
Wonderful looking pair of helicopters!! I am truly amazed at the detail and the scale. 144 scale ust isn't in my wheel house of capability.
They are really jewels in the palm of your hand. Excellent models, Lou!
Fraser
Thank you Ken and Fraser. An enjoyable project.

PS I ruined the CanMilAir decals previously mentioned by spraying grey primer instead of clear, I redid them on my PC and had to use 1 pt font to get that lettering in the roundel ident. That is the limit of my PC and also my eyesight.
Absolute gems in 1/144.
Well done Lou!
Gordon
Thank you Gordon.
Lou
They turned out great. Now I want to try making one.
Thank you Dave. They are relatively easy and quick to do. The rotors are simplified but look good from a distance. Compared to your 1/230 scale "Small Gems", these are huge.
