Working on the build images Gents. Scale is 1/148th this will be the 1st in the SilverCraft line of plans. SilverCraft is the brand my grandfather built his boats under, about 40 years ago. This prototype is being built to produce patterns that plans will be developed from.

Thanks, Ray!

I did some checking, because her line looked familiar, and found that the BYMS-1 (British YMS) class is essentially the same ship.

BYMS-26 became J-826 became BYMS-2026 became the car ferry Calypso, became Jacques Cousteau's ship Calypso.

Oh, and she was built by the by the Ballard Marine Railway Co., Inc., Seattle, WA.

Yes, someday I'd like to do the Calypso version. I have a picture of her from 1958 with the original bridge with the round portholes. John Wayne also bought one to make into his private yacht. You can also see one in "The Life Aquatic" A Bill Murray film from a few years back. As far as I can tell some had an open flying bridge and some had the space just closed in. Perhaps for Atlantic or Pacific service? They were actually built by many different Yacht builders throughout the US.

My Mistake, The ship in "The Life Aquatic" was an Australian "Ton" class Sweeper. A good future project.  :-[

Great build, Ray.  It is neat to see how you use patterns and re-apply them at various stages.

I will attempt to make Ray's minesweeper but cannot commit to any project until  my new shop is set up. Maybe late this year, early 207.

How long is your YMS model. I figure 11.33 inches. I am downloading as many photos as possible for future work on your YMS. I have some 1/144 scale sailors that might work with the USS Albatross

11 inches with a beam of 2 inches. Are you including the "Hammer" on the bow? I am not.
