In the early 1960s I recall seeing a layered USS Enterprise CV 6 in either popular mechanics, or popular science. It was constructed in a similar fashion to HMS Ark Royal seen below. Does anyone have such a drawing? I believe it was water line model with just three levels and a thin deck.

This looks a lot like your description Lou.

Thanks Mark, but this is not the drawing I was referring to. The drawing has the middle deck with the side cut outs seen in the bottom of the Ark Royal drawing. Thanks for looking.

Lou,
I found Popular Science plans for the USS Yorktown. The Big E was same class carrier.

Similar plans for the USS Saratoga:

Thank you ever so much. I believe that will do the trick. My memory as to the actual model is fuzzy at best. I was looking around the late 50s early 60s as I was at boarding school when I saw it. I just assumed they had up to date magazines. I have prt sc the pages and will assemble them into jpegs for submission to SMM.
There is a note about ship of the month so I will start reviewing the mags for other ships.
