The Phantom Project

Here is Pete's Phantom project.

1.  Eastern Red Cedar, plan from "virtual aircraft museum" and proportional scale.

2.  Pattern cut out from opaque plastic sheet from quilters supply store.

3.  After band sawing, now the carving starts.

4.  Caliper, knife and thumb guard.

5.  Tapering wings, etc.

6.  Ready to start on the fuselage.

7.  Many chips later, and pictures to ensure accuracy.

8.  Finishing nails with the heads cut off to join the wings.

9.  Quilting pins for thinner parts.

10. Drop tanks shaped with sander.

11. We have wings, glued on with clear Gorilla glue ( blue label), and tail pipes.

12. My Foredom and Dremel stuff...gotta grind down the wing roots.

13. Now for the sanding by hand...note the intake nozzles in place.

14. Sanding mop sure helps.
