Ray showed me some sanding sponges he had bought. He said they worked well for shaping curved surfaces.

I bought a fine and and extra fine sanding sponge, and tried them out on parts I made for my Photo-Recon (PRU) Spitfire. The carburetor intake and oil cooler intake are both cylindrical. Also, the PRU version has a teardrop-shaped bump on either side of the canopy (so the pilot can look down and aft). These shaped very nicely with the sanding sponge, really getting a nice even radius of curvature.

With the addition of the canopy bumps, I am officially ready for final primer and paint! I still need to construct a tail wheel, but that gets added after painting.
