Title: P-61
Post by: lastvautour on March 09, 2010, 05:48:35 PM
The message below is Cliff's data on his P-61. I moved it from the Model Of the year thread.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Scale of my P61 is nominally 1/96 or 1" = 8'. "Nominally' because it is within 20% of 1/96. Or the length of the model is 6" while the  length of the actual aircraft is approximately 50'. To answer the question:"How in the earth did you arrive at this," it was because, years ago when this thing was started, I was trying to be consistent with the scale that the old "dime models" used to be offered at. The model itself has been used as a "trainer" for current modelling as it were. The plan used was from E. H. Thomas's Air Trails Magazine's plans but scaled using a Pantograph built from a Mechanic's Illustrated. Perhaps we should also, if possible, post the plans or the source when posting to this site.
