Congratulations Lou on being voted Modeler of the Year. And with respect to your current entry for the  '09 Model of the Year your models are, as usual, supreme. But I would like to also commend you on the fine background within which  you present your models. A very superb detailed and realistic hangar.

Cliff.

Taking a cue from Ray, I will post all 2009 submissions to the first post and then place an advisory message when a new addition has been posted.

So far we have 4 submissions. I am still waiting for Gera to provide me with pictures of his 2009 Caproni 101 submission.

I have to admit mine didn't take 1-1/2 hours to make. I skipped the primer/filler stage and also fine sanding (it's so small). A lot of corners were cut to get it out there for the war effort.

Please be advised that I will post the finished models to another post listed above this one. Again, should I miss someone please let me know. I will post the photo alphabetically by builder using their first/user name. I have just started so, it will take a few days(?) to complete the switch over. Using icons and the link to the gallery should be more user friendly and take up less space.

Cliff - where is that Vickers Vedette?

Inquiring minds want to know.

I only realized last week that there was a Model of the Year gallery and was thoroughly amazed at the number of projects completed in 2009. I think Barry is right, solid modeling is making a comeback!

Here is the link- http://smm.solidmodelmemories.net/SMF/index.php?topic=394.0 (http://smm.solidmodelmemories.net/SMF/index.php?topic=394.0)

One problem Lou, the image links don't match up to the correct page on the few that I tried.

Ken sent me a message on the links. I messed up by using the image in the latest upload windows where I should have gone into the member's gallery album. I will sort them out in due time. Sorry for the mix up.

I have not counted the pictures lately but we must be approaching 60. Barry could have  a post all by himself.

Ken has already selected two models:
Marcos' Air Tractor 802F and
Terry's Short Mayo composite

I had it down to 8 but that is way to many. Since Ken started with two, I will continue as such. I personnal like these two:
Cliff's Vedette and
TBA (one of 5 since Ken already nominated two that I had on my list)

Hola de la Isla Cozumel!

We are on our annual New Year's dive trip to this lovely island, but through the magic of the Internet I can tune in.

My, what a difficult process:  all the models are so wonderful.  But, forced to choose two, I must needs select Paul's DC-2 and Jim's Strombecker Boeing Stratoliner.  As for Modeler of the Year, I would like to nominate Garet--his efforts in the area of stitching and archiving plans are a boon to all of us.

I am trying to transplant my post from modeler to model.  Here goes.

I would like to nominate the following two models.  For some reason I cannot get the image to work for the Short Mayo Composite. Note: Terry's image address is longer than most covering just over three lines of text. The property section will only display two lines, but all three are there. You must ensure that the property address ends with .jpg    Your friendly administrative crew at your service.

Congratulations Terry on your Short Mayo Composite model being recognized as The Model of the Year. It certainly complies with my criteria for such acknowledgement being, as it is, an example of fine finishing and the choice of a model that replicates an historically unique aircraft - one that I think is not readily available on the mass market.

Now all that is hoped for is that you could enlighten us a bit about your building techniques, why you choose that aircraft and perhaps something about its historical significance.

Cliff.
