I will attempt to show how to make realistic wheel discs for the smaller models. An example of a 1/144 scale wheel discs for a Convair Liner(CC-109/C-131/T-29 etc) is provided below.

Here is a preliminary PDF on wheel discs. Once sized and printed to regular paper, cut out and glue to wheel, Touch up edges with black paint.

Here is a second method I use for various number of spokes. Here we have a 5 and 8 spoke wheels.

A lot of early solid model kits had printed engine cylinders to cut out and place inside the cowling,just like your wheel centres they looked most effective.
