I showed these videos to my 9-year old son, who said "professional model builder?.... hmm" I loved the part with the hand-painted nose art in the B-17 video.
I don't imagine at the price they sell them for that these guys could be getting paid much. It is a good tutorial though, shows the basics. We have to remember that they do this at least 30 or 40 hours a week, don't have to buy there and you'll notice it wasn't the same fella doing the whole model. It's too bad the couldn't put some of that effort into some kits. Like Strom's type kits.

They tried, But I don't allow commercial sales of models and they didn't like it. I don't know if it was THESE particular fellows but it was someone importing Solids from the same place. Actually I said they could for a 30% cut. Their sites can be very interesting to look through though.

All this stuff probably comes from the Philippines. Back in the bad old days when I was in the military, you could get these models through the PX. A C-130 in your markings and colors was $25.00. The model was larger than 1/72, possibly not a specific scale. Now there must be a dozen outfits who import the models, and I expect the companies making them are all over South East Asia by now. In the '60s and '70s you could order just about anything you could think up. I'm sure by now the importers have exclusive contracts.
I think the high gloss lacquer makes them look weird, especially on WWI planes.
