Hi guys,

Since I still have lots of plywood lying around, I started on a Tempest profile model:

Very nice. How many do you have in your collection now? How are you displaying them?

Hi Lou,

How many Tempests? Or how many models?  :)
I have made one Tempest from MDF before. That one is lying around somewhere, together with my Fokker G-1.

I have 3 models on display right now.
My finished Mosquito, the GeeBee racer and now added the Corsair II.
I have them on a shelf in the bed room.

The collection is still really modest, will have to start thinking of a display solution soon.

Priming stage is done.
Will draw the lines with a pencil before I start painting:

Nice work Jorrit. How do you seal the edges of the plywood?

Lou, when I was making plywood profile models, I used a latex based wood putty (Elmer's Wood Filler) to fill the plywood edges.  You don't want to get it wet after it's hardened, though, so I used a lacquer-based primer before any of the acrylic paint.

I'm interested to hear what Jorrit does.

Hi Lou,

A bit ashamed to admit that I never bothered to do so.
Now that you mention it, I look at my models with a different eye.
it would be much nicer looking if I could seal the edges.

The order I normally work is as follows:
1) Sawing 2) Sanding 3) Priming 4) Painting 5) Assembly

I do this in this particular order because of the tiny decals and lettering.
I don't want to use paper or sticker decals (just a feeling, I don't have good arguments).

I am going to try it as follows:
I am going to sand the primer of the connecting parts of the Tempest.
Then paint the rest except where the different parts meet and then fill the edges with putty.
Then sand a bit, prime and paint.
