Title: Need paint help
Post by: FlyingS on March 29, 2018, 06:31:45 PM
Finished my Hall's Bulldog racer and had planned to paint just the black graphics and the rest natural cedar. Well I over estimated my free hand painting skills and it looked like a 1st grader had attacked it (no offense to 1st graders). So I decided to paint over it all in red and mask off the black part for painting. Well I've put several coats of red acrylic paint (craft paint) and the black keeps showing through. I want to stick with water base what ever but not sure what to do at this point. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Harv

An idea would be to use spray primer to cover everything and repaint from scratch. Baring that, perhaps sanding down to the wood and starting over.

Thanks Lou. I ended up sanding and repainting. Some of the black was salvageable. Will post pictures when I'm finished.
