Title: First Generation Jet Cook Up
Post by: lastvautour on August 03, 2020, 06:59:11 PM
Anybody up for an early jet cook up? Aircraft can be any scale but must be listed in the First Generation Jets as defined by Wikipedia.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First-generation_jet_fighter

We need a minimum of one more builder.

Lou

PS 11/16/2020 A clarification on which aircraft qualify. Jet bombers are not listed on Wikipedia, however a look at the fighters listed reveal they all entered wide spread service prior to 1955. In future all jets regardless of function may be included as long at they fall into the aforementioned category.

I'm in for sure.
Lots to choose from the list

Sure..why not😋 is there a completion date? As I am not the fastest builder ( or maybe a large project list...)

Farser, our cook ups have no ending dates. You can join any cook up as you see fit.

Seeing that building various models in the same post is confusing hence I have removed the individual builds back to my board and will post only the completed project here. If you wish to see 1st Generation builds they are available at

Gordon, your impending Avon Sabre would fit nicely.

My Sea Hawk has the wings are rough cut and the fuselage is close to contour shaping.

The Vautour IIA is painted in Israeli Air Force (IAF) colours circa 1959. First flown in 1950, the IIA version did not gain much favour with the French  Armée de l'Air. However the Vautour IIA gave good service the the IAF where is was used in ground attack roll with a degree of success.

I have cut something out that has been done previously but I have always liked it and I have a store bought canopy that I need to use.

I'll stick something up as it progresses further.

In the overall scheme of things vacuum form canopies are fairly cheap.  I friend of mine ordered a 1/48 Hurricane canopy and found that the best price was from Australia. His cost was around $9.00 CDN.

I picked up an assorted batch for 3 bucks a few years ago . The Blenheim canopy was the first one used.
