Slowly back to carving a 1/144 DHC-5 Buffalo using mainly my pocket knife.

I just may finish and photograph my P51 and Mosquito in time for this year's "Model of the Year". They're both about finished (finally) but to send them to SMM I rely on Creative Retirement's computer and scanner. However they will be shut down sometime over the holidays. Just exactly when and what problems I may encounter I'm not sure. If not completed on time they will appear in  the early part of the New Year. Very exciting indeed. Just what these old dudes need!!!!
Cliff.

  Greetings all,

Status of my projects so far.

CAC -15 .  Hasn't progressed much. Been sidetracked by other wishful thinking and work.

Delanne 20T . Much the same . waiting good weather and time to finish off.

Caproni CH1.  Pick this up occasionally . lives in its transport container with the Flycatcher.

Fairey Flycatcher. Co habits with the Caproni but work seems to be moving on it. Went the reverse to
Lou    and started the airframe before the engine. Inspired by Lou's P&W
and started a Armstrong Siddeley Jaguar IV . Enjoyed it. Pictures in gallery.
Used balsa dowel and a nut to simulate cylinder head. Tried winding wire.
Have enough cylinder head for another one so a Siskin is in the mix.

That's about it so far. I enjoy the subjects that pop up and the work of the group  is as always
      excellent.

Wishing everyone the compliments of the season and all the best for 2012.

      Cheers

      Gordon

I can't believe there are two 1920's Fairey biplanes being built by SMM members at the same time!   That's fantastic!

Besides my 1:72 Fairey IIID for the LDF cook-up I'm building a rubber powered flying model of the Martin T4M-1 for another forum cook-up and I've just set up my all vintage (no plastic!) HO model train around the Christmas tree so I can have the annual holiday fun of running some trains for a few weeks.

Have a great Christmas/New Years everyone!

Mark

Have fun Mark,I like the idea of the train running around the tree,it must be fifties vintage to be made of metal ?
Barry.
How about a nice picture of the tree and the railway ?

Yes Barry, almost all of the rolling stock is '40s-'50s vintage.  Wood, card, diecast, some tinplate, some brass and only a very few parts on the rolling stock from early forms of plastic but nothing newer than about 1962.  The cats love the train and are very well behaved around it.  Train is a typical late '50s branch line of the old CB&Q (Chicago, Burlington & Quincy), the mainline of which passes within 1/3 mile of our house.  Today the road is called the BNSF (Burlington, Northern, Santa Fe).

Thank you for this Mark, certainly built to last and you cannot beat the old vintage items.
And what a beautiful cat you have there ! they love movement and hiding under the christmas tree.
Barry.

I would also like to wish all the SMM members a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanuka or Happy Kwanza. Which ever you and yours celebrate. I would also like to thank all the members of this group for helping to keep me sane through a crazy year. In a week we can all discuss our solid model resolutions for 2012. I'm looking forward to that!

Santa brought me a 1/43 and a 1/18 Ford Mustang diecasts and a fancy pocket watch since previous surgery makes it hard to wear one on my left arm.

Christmas dinner at friends was fabulous and I even had time to place a few decals on my Piaggio P-136. It is currently drying after a final coat of clear and should be ready for the camera lens later today. This is the first 1/72 model with undercarriage. All others were ID + models on stands. I hope you all had a great day.

One more day before the end of the year. Any models finished in 2011 can be posted until until mid Jan 2012.
