Pete provided us with a mystery plane. Can anyone ID it?

Lou,
The name escapes me at the moment . It is either Romanian,czech or Yugoslavian early on in World War 2. I have a mental picture of it in German markings outside a hangar.
Will continue the search.

My memory's OK but I should have been a bit further north.
I'll say its a Irbitis VEF I-16 from Latvia.
Single seat lightweight fighter of wooden construction.Only one built.
