I started a PT-10 torpedo boat model, in 1/350 scale.

Updated photos are in my gallery:

The plans are from How to Make a Model Navy by H.H. Gilmore and are available in the plans gallery:

The TB looks great. The attraction for 1/350 scale is great as the cutting and shaping time is tremendously reduced and a finished subject is soon in hand. How is your other TB doing. The last you mentioned was that the ammunition contractor had messed up your torpedo tubes.

Thanks for the comments, Lou.

Yes, you can see the new boat got its torpedo tubes already:

These were made from thin applicator sticks that I chucked in an electric drill and turned down with folded-over sandpaper.

PT-9 hasn't had any work on her; we're still waiting for those torpedo tubes!

So many projects, so little time...

Added guns and a mast last night.  I need to cut off the pin head from the top of the mast, though! :-)

Please send it to me for photos after you have finshed it. i promiss to send it back to you. My dark blue carpet makes a good background for ships. Now if I could figure out how to do wakes we would be in business.

I completed the PT-10 this evening, for a total of about 3.25 hours of construction time.  I did notice right before completion that the PARTS diagram (which I used to cut out the parts) doesn't much match the TOP VIEW, but I figure it was really semi-scale to begin with anyway!  The sea trial crew noticed that the ensign staff pulled out, so we had to call in the welders to fix it.

Photos to follow, before she is shipped north-eastward for North Atlantic duty!

Looks great Garet. Be sure to wrap it carefully for shipping.

Garet, where did you find the giant penny? One of those chocolate coins?

Oceaneer99

Chocolate would be fun, but no, the penny is metal.  Since copper is so expensive these days, I used zinc with a copper coating.  The penny is 350x scale, and is almost 22 feet across!   ;)

The PT10 finally made landfall at Lou's Harbour this morning after several weeks adrift.

Anothe superb PT Boat. Very nice effect with sub in background. I give a realistic scene.
