Title: 1/32 Delanne 20T-02 started July 2011 Completed 14 April 2015
Post by: Boomerang on January 12, 2015, 10:17:10 PM
As with the Flycatcher revisiting the Delanne.
I guess I've had an extended modeller's block with this one.
I'm not sure of the colour scheme.
I've done it red with gold trim. But it could be blue.

All depends on the type of film used etc..,

If you look at the link above this gives probably the best set of pics around ( that I can find).

  Cheers

Rather than procrastinate I've decided to go with Red . The fuselage stripes etc.. will be gold with a fine edge of black.
This is based on black and white picture I came across of another aircraft that is painted as such.
It will be the subject of another project a little further down the track.

  Cheers

From further research the "future" project will burgundy with gold trim and registration.

  On with the Delanne.

Nose surgery has been performed . Had to trim the nose down by 1/16 th then reshape the lower nose.
The main inlet was shaped and a piece of appropriatly shaped plastic food container was inserted then a small amount of
filler to provide the lip. The right hand side is a scoop. Again plastic food container used.
Spinner adjusted to suit.  Slats have been cut from doped and primed paper.
I've had the struts made for some time. I'll add some copper wire to the ends to serve as locating pins.
These will the last to go on as I've got tp do the fuselage striping.
  Pics to follow

Struts have been pinned to aid assembly.
More coats of red applied. Have to cut back some minor "bubbling" on the left side of fuselage.
Propeller painted. Rear of blades will be black.
Leaving struts  and spats off till I've managed to do the fuselage stripe

Fuselage and spats have now had the gold trim applied. Have given the canopy a couple of coats of white.
Looks a bit to bright against the red so I'll think about knocking it back a bit with a light wash of grey or green.

Canopy done. spats and struts attached.
Some minor cleaning up to do.
Making a venturi out of bamboo skewer and copper wire for the left side.
Need to get some thin gauge brass tubing and rod for the pitot and main undercarriage bracing.
Might have a dabble at making some decals for the fins.
  Cheers

  Thank you Cliff,
Have added the undercarriage bracing and the pitot.
Would have added the venturi but when removing it from the bamboo skewer
there was a "ping" and it disappeared (MDB) Missing During Building.
Searched along the suspected path but to no avail.
  Have since made another one.
How to get get around making the decals is still an empty thought bubble.

  Pic to follow.
