Boomerang's Projects / Re: 1/32 BAT FK 23

The BAT has been relegated to when I get time. Will probably end up like the Flycatcher (long term).

I have revised my approach to the Battle.

The vac form canopy is oversize. Plus doing something to the cockpit would add weeks to the project.

 Soooo....
The fuselage is nearly at where I want it. Shape etc..,
 Undercarriage will be UP.

Picture to follow when further progressed.

Lou's Projects / Christine - A pirate ship

In honour of my niece's visit, I made a pirate show to mark the event. Construction is pine and mahogany and finished with Min Wax stain. The ratlines were made on a homemade jig. It currently sits on my mantle.

A bit more progress and currently waiting for 1mm Tamiya tape to arrive by mail to continue with the wings.

Carvings I have been working on over the past six months.

1/72- Wackett Gannet.

1/144- Bristol Buckingham, Blackburn Botha, Douglas B-23, Sikorsky S-43, Mitsubishi K7M1, Consolidated Corregidor and an Air Tractor cropduster.

No-Scale "airtoons" are F-100, Spitfire and F4F Wildcat. Two of which I have carved before.

Nothing finished yet. I sprayed them with red primer recently when it warmed up a bit outside.

Dave: I use 1mm Tamiya tape for ribs.
Jim: I find it easier to align the wings.

I've been thinking of adopting that technique. I used it once before, on the SE-5a I made a few years back, and it went fairly well. Normally, I press a notch into the wood and glue the strut into the notch. But the struts often don't always want to stay put, and I wind up having to re-set and re-glue them a lot. Drilling through the wing ought to make for a neater gluing connection, too. I think I'll try your technique again next time.
